CARE HOME FOR MOTHERS AND CHILDREN
“A helping hand for the mothers of Sister Angela Pozzoli”
Being fully aware of the huge problem of marginalisation and poverty that exists also in Italy, For a Smile Onlus (NPO) has chosen to support, with a donation of 10,000 Euros, the project “Care Home for mothers and children”. Supervised and run by the “Vincentian Voluntary Groups Association” (Associazione Gruppi di Volontariato Vincenziano GVV), this project has been in operation since 1836, in Via Saccarelli 2, Turin.
The temporary Community Lodgings, built specifically to house young single women expecting a child or with underage children, devoid of a valid family reference point, have proved to be an imperative departure point towards social redemption and human rescue for these women.
Every year the number of women seeking a provisional lodging to enable them to re-enter the field of work increases. Therefore, a job and a house are their main goals and the most difficult to obtain, especially for those women who have children to look after. For a Smile Onlus (NPO), together with Sister Angela, has evaluated the possibility of contributing concretely to the working rehabilitation of these girls, acquiring special vouchers used for occasional secondary working services. Such vouchers will be used to remunerate the casual work of the educators taking care of the daughters of the young mothers in the Care Homes.
